This is a one year term position with the possibility of extension.

The Alberta Cancer Board (ACB) is a provincial agency responsible for cancer research, supportive care, prevention, early detection and cancer treatment facilities including the Cross Cancer Institute in Edmonton and the Tom Baker Cancer Centre in Calgary.

We are seeking one System Administrator for our Sybase and Microsoft SQL database environment.  Some Solaris administration is required to support those instances running under UNIX.  This position will be physically located out of the provincial office in Edmonton.  Travel is a small component of this position.

As the System Administrator – Database you will be working within Information Systems. You will be responsible for ensuring the stable operation of our database infrastructures in a mission critical environment.  You will also have shared
responsibility for all maintenance, planning and documentation of these environments.

Requirements
Degree/diploma in Computer Science or a related field supplemented with at least 2 years computer system administration with relevant hardware/software. Background in the health care field, experience with Sybase Replication Server/OpenSwitch, Microsoft SQL in a clustered environment, CISSP and other security training will be considered assets. This is a highly technical position with a requirement for a strong work ethic.
