Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensures prompt and courteous service at all times.
  • Understands the details of sales orders and quotations, for both current and future inventory valuation and pricing policies.
  • Enters customer orders into the computerized inventory system.
  • Completes and follows up on all customer quotations within a reasonable time frame.
  • Tracks order status to provide feedback to customers on late deliveries. 
  • Resolves customer disputes and quality issues.
  • Coordinates and consolidates shipments to customers to control expenses.
  • Informs and invoices customers on additional charges outside of normal selling terms.
  • Ensures profitability is maintained through the consideration of order size, available inventory at varying costs and offering alternatives of slow moving inventory.
  • Contacts current or potential customers to generate new sales opportunities.
  • Completes the New Account Summary Form and supporting documentation and requests Accounting to set up new customers.
  • Works with and assists outside sales representatives and Purchasing Department.

  • Employment Requirements
  • 1-2 years experience in customer service is an asset, preferably working with industrial products or automotive.
  • University or college degree required.    
  • Entry level to intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of fasteners and industrial products is an asset.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Time management skills including the ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks.
  • Proven decision making, analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Must have patience and control to work effectively in difficult situations and adapt to sudden/frequent changes with composure.
  • Ability to participate in recommending improvements to operations and processes.
  • Must be innovative and flexible, to respond in a positive manner to situations, both external and internal, while at the same time protecting Whitesell interests.
  • Ability to read basic blueprints is an asset.
