Job Title: Shelter Support/ Security Worker
Hours: Shift Work 40 hour¡¦s bi-weekly
Rate of pay: $14 / hr to Start
General Functions: Shelter Support / Security Workers maintain a helpful supportive relationship with guests, volunteers, donors and other staff at all times and ensures availability when needed. Shelter Support / Security Workers are noticeably positive, do not give in to panic in emergency or volatile situations, and maintain self control under provocation. Shelter Support / Security Workers are available to the guests at all times, ensuring that the center runs in a smooth and organized manner for the overall well being of the guests
Summary:
„X To provide support services and connections to the guests of the Lethbridge Shelter and Resource Centre
„X Assists guests with social, recreational, and personal needs.
„X Carries out management instructions and objectives at all times.
„X Respectfully advocates on behalf guests and make every effort to understand the guest, his-her needs.
„X Provide proper documentations pertaining to Shelter operations and policy and procedures of Lethbridge Shelter and Resource Center ¡V Aboriginal Housing Society.
„X To collaborate with Lethbridge Regional Police Services, EMS, Victim Services, Corrections, Lethbridge Regional Hospital and community services as required.
„X Preference will be given to applications that are willing to work weekends.
„X Have open communication and team work.
Qualifications:
„X Grade 12 Diploma
„X Post secondary in Criminal Justice, Corrections, Addictions, Rehabilitation, Personal Care Assistant, and or related experience an asset but not required
„X First Aide/CPR
„X Must be in good physical health
„X Willing to work in diverse working environment.
„X A Criminal Record Check will be required to successful applicant.
„X Knowledge and understanding of aboriginal culture, language, organizations and communities is a definite asset.
