The UNIX systems team is responsible for providing LOS support for UNIX systems, as well as implementing UNIX-specific projects for IT customers. The UNIX systems administrator works to deliver all support guaranteed in the LOS contract with business. This individual is also responsible for implementing any specific technical deliverables to business as required.
Requirements
This position requires a bachelors degree in Computer Science or equivalent related experience
Experience in Unix system design and Unix administration
Fault analysis/determination and problem solving skills
Ability to effectively communicate technical issues to software suppliers.
Knowledge of various UNIX scripting languages (shell, perl, or others)
Knowledge of UNIX Operating System fundamentals
Excellent team work, communication and documentation skills
Experience with multiple UNIX flavors, preferably AIX and Solaris
Knowledge of higher-level languages (C, FORTRAN, COBOL, or others)
Knowledge of various web server technologies (Netscape. Apache, or others)
Knowledge of Sun hardware platforms
Ability to use standard UNIX performance tools to analyze system performance
An understanding of production environments, including the requirement for high availability and team oriented 24x7 support capabilities.
Expertise in all standard UNIX Client/Server network protocols and Windows client protocols (SAMBA).
Familiarity with computing infrastructures, including Data Security, Help Desk, Operations, Network Computing, Data Base and Application Development.
Ability to be a self-starter and to take initiative in critical situations
Demonstrated ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision.
